"The Cartier Matchbox", Original
"The Cartier matchbox" symbolizes how expensive something as everyday and widely used as a match to light a candle can be. It leads the viewer to reflect on this: if these matches were collectible, would you buy them? Would you invest your money in something so expensive to light a candle and then throw it away? Or would you leave them forgotten in a memory box? I would put them on display in my main living room.
Mery spent 11 hours finishing this piece. This artwork was drawn with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Caran d'Anche pencils on "Arches" fine art paper.
