I think that in some past life I have had a very close relationship with Ireland… in this life, I have had the opportunity to travel twice to the emerald Island. The first time, in 2018, I visited the Guinness factory in Dublin and I thought it was fantastic. The art in that factory and the creativity with which they tell you the story of the barley grains is unique in the world. I'm not a fan of alcohol in general, but my partner is a regular of this famous brand of stout beer and for some reason, when I drink it, the flavor instantly transports me to Irish pubs, but not to one pub in the city of Dublin… to pubs in the Irish countryside, where the sunlight on a cloudy day comes through the windows and the colors are reflected in the whiskey bottles, where the smell of wood and rain invite you to stay, where for some reason, everyone is drinking a Guinness stout beer.
My partner bought this can in a supermarket in Santiago de Compostela, where we lived for 2 months this year, and I have molded it with my hands trying to create the best composition of shine and shadow effects, representing the pop art style and my defiant desire to draw every detail to achieve hyperrealism. For some reason of destiny, after those 2 months in Santiago de Compostela, we traveled to Ireland for a week where, in Galway, we visited an Irish pub, ordered two Guinness stout beers, one for my partner and one for me and toasted to always coming back. Ireland, you will always be in my heart.
